About project:
In today's rapidly changing world, we are facing a variety of challenges that require innovative approaches and the use of modern technologies to address key issues affecting our spatial development. In addition to the wealth of data and technologies available today, which need to be used wisely, the main challenges of our time are primarily related to climate change, resource scarcity, sustainable resource management, the dimensions of globalization and other societal challenges. In line with the project's starting point, the project will address the use of open data and modern technologies to support the monitoring of the state of spatial development and, consequently, spatial planning. The project will give priority to the area of re-use of space, which is identified as a key area for spatial planning and monitoring the state of spatial development. This is because the re-use of space can be a response to some of the major environmental and social challenges of our time. The project will explore and apply the various available state-of-the-art technologies and artificial intelligence. The project will examine the use of publicly available data and other lesser-known data sources. Indeed, the collection of data on the Earth's surface and spatial phenomena, as well as on human activity and behaviour, is ubiquitous. To this end, the project will develop indicators to monitor the state of spatial development and test their usefulness at the national, regional and local level. In addition to designing indicators, the project will focus on a methodological approach to building a data and information infrastructure to support the monitoring of the state of spatial development.
