The project's main objective is to promote sustainable spatial planning and increase settlements' resilience to climate impacts (temperature rise, extreme weather events, increased flooding, sea level rise, etc.). To achieve this, recommendations and guidelines will be developed to support spatial planners and urban designers in developing climate-resilient solutions in settlements.
The project focuses on five key areas: the inner development of settlements, focusing on new urban design approaches, sustainable water management in settlements, the provision of spatial conditions to improve the microclimatic conditions in settlements and enhanced accessibility for walking and cycling as an alternative to mobility.
