Tim Gerdin is a landscape architect who graduated in 2021 and obtained his Master's degree in 2024 at the Faculty of Biotechnics in Ljubljana with the thesis Identifying distinctive landscapes of the Polhov Gradec Hills as a basis for the development of a management plan. In his master's thesis, he proposed a definition for landscape identity at the local level and evaluated it at the scale of municipalities and landscape typology. He updated the methodology for evaluating landscape identity at national level for application at local level and provided guidelines for integrating the concept of identity into spatial planning instruments such as the management plan, the municipal spatial plan and the townscape and landscape ordinance.
During his studies, he edited, designed and illustrated various publications and also participated in several solo and group exhibitions of drawings, paintings, illustrations and projects in Slovenia, as well as in France, where he spent a study year at the École nationale supérieure de paysage in Versailles.
In the last year of his studies, he participated in the preparation of the Kras landscape plan, for which he worked mainly on the green network and habitat types. He is also
primarily tackling the theme of ecological connectivity at the Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, which he joined in 2024.
