Hosting the International Delegation in the Field of Physical Activity and Health

On Thursday, the 8th of October, the Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (UIRS) welcomed an international delegation consisting of representatives from the Canadian organization Sport for Life and the French Toulouse Université Club (TUC) and a representative of the Sports Union of Slovenia.

We presented our work to the delegation in the fields of spatial planning, green spaces, active mobility and the creation of health-supportive living environments. Researchers Ina Šuklje Erjavec, Vita Žlender and Rok Brišnik introduced the work of our institute, selected projects and approaches that contribute to more active lifestyles and healthier communities. The visit also provided an excellent opportunity for mutual learning. Our guests shared their experiences and current initiatives in Canada and France, presenting approaches to physical literacy, lifelong physical activity, community engagement and the promotion of active and healthy lifestyles. Together, we exchanged perspectives on the links between urban planning, public health, sport and the role of the built environment in encouraging walking, cycling and other forms of everyday physical activity.

Thank you to our guests for the inspiring discussions and valuable exchange of knowledge and good practices!
